As far as I know, none of the natural products out there really work that well for Ticks. They work well for mosquito’s and other flying insects but the ticks don’t seem to be bothered by them.
If I was to suggest a product I would suggest you pick up some Repel 100. It is something like 98% Deet. It needs to be washed off after about 10 hours or so but it will completely fend off every tick, mosquito, gnat and any biting fly (Horseflies) that come around.

Long pants tucked into boots, long shirts tucked in and even taped at the neck and wrists. Regular tick checks…

I work at a resort that has clients who are addicted to natural/chemical free repellants. We tried a bunch of different crap last year. A company called Wipe-eeze made these peppermint/lemon oil soaked wipes that worked OK. We didn’t buy them for regular use on our hikes because of cost. We tried Herbal Armor as well…that didn’t work well either.
Cutter, Off, and Ben’s 30% DEET worked very well. Much better than any lemon oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, or citronella oil mixtures we had the herbalist-in-residence cook up for us to use.
Of course..I know how to read directions..so I feel safe using 100% DEET. That’s what works the best. Just follow the directions.
Also. Wear long pants, long sleeves, and a hat. That’s the best protection.
