Hayfever is normally a chronic condition. Maybe you could move some place where they don’t have ragweed like the North Pole or the South Pole.

I’ve get hayfever really bad. I’ve had all sorts of tests but there’s really nothing they can do.

So I take Zyrtec everyday all year round. It usually does the trick.

    Not ideal I know.

The thing about allergies is this: They is no cure…but…they do change form. For years I was a hay fever sufferer. Like clock work, 8 Aug was the day it would start. Then I got married and got a cat and suddenly I have awful problems, worse than hay fever. I loved that cat so of course I neve blamed her for it. But the hay fever ended as soon as that cat came into my life. I even thought it would change when I moved. It didn’t. One day I wound up in the ER. Doctor told me…it it you or the cat.

Now they have those bothersome allergy shots…but although they help they don’t cure the problem.

    can’t say i’ve ever heard of a permanent cure 4 hay-fever.
    u sure some1 isn’t pulling ur leg?
u can buy a herbal supplement from Health food shops, that can help build up ur resistance, but cure out-right, no way there are 2 many pollens, which 1 do u start with?

anyway, sorry never heard of a permanent cure.

I did the desensitization treatment (shots) for several years and then I finally stopped. While on the shots, I also worked on trying to learn self-hypnosis. I went to a psychologist and had her hypnotize me a couple times, and each session, she also worked on teaching me how to do it to myself. She told me how to command my body to heal and overcome my allergies. I had severe hayfever and asthma.

When I got off the shots, I had to go back on them again, but after a few months I tried again. It worked finally and today I have minimal hayfever and rarely have any asthmatic attacks. I get the latter under control before they get bad.

The antihistamines work just fine. You may not have found the right one for YOU, but the drug companies are not out there gouging money from us for non-working products. That’s just your opinion and has nothing to do with reality.

Now that I have my allergies well controlled, the few times I have problems, the antihistamines work well to control the small amount that I haven’t gotten under control.

Acupuncture. :-) Chinese medicine is one of the most affective ways to deal with numerous ails and ills.

You can take numerous medicines, and get many shots throughout your life to help you deal with certain things, but: Acupuncture is used to balance, unblock or strengthen the Lung Qi (lung energy), depending on the person’s constitution and symptoms. From the standpoint of Chinese medicine, stagnation in the lungs can lead to sneezing, nasal discharge and congestion. Also Chinese herbs would be given to strengthen the underlying energy of the Wei Qi.

have you tried haymax? available as pure organic, lavender or franksense.
It is very simple. HayMax™ acts as a trap – or a blocker. The HayMax™ applied to the bottom of the nose traps the pollen before it enters the body. If there is no pollen in the body, there’s nothing for the body to react against. No pollen – no sneezing.

HayMax™ does not cure the symptoms of hayfever, it removes the cause to reduce or maybe even eliminate the effects of the pollen.

    available

There is no “cure” for allergies, but there are very effective treatments. As a nurse, I haven’t seen many good results with the desesitisation shots.

You need to have your primary care doc refer you to an allergist. This is his specialty and he will do tine testing to determine exactly what you are allergic to. This will allow him to devise a personalized treatment plan for you. Your plan could include prescription nasal sprays, prescription oral meds, and/or shots. I believe there is now a shot that is given at the beginning of allergy season and is supposed to take care of symptoms for at least three months. A good question to ask the allergist.

I’m not speaking only as a nurse, but also as a former allergy sufferer. I was miserable with allergies all year long until I found a competent allergist. Now I follow my treatment plan and the misery is gone. I use two prescription nasal sprays (Nasonex and Astelin) and take one oral prescription med. Good news is that the drug companies are coming out almost every month with new and better treatments. There are many more good nasal sprays besides the ones I take. It’s only a matter of the allergist determining which will be best for you.

I can tell from your question that drug companies are really low on your list. As a nurse, surprise, I agree with you. But there are really effective drugs out there that can help you and even tho the drug companies are getting ridiculously wealthy – sometimes we have to put that out of our minds and do what is best for us.

Please do consider an allergist. Your primary care doc doesn’t have the expertise to do the necessary testing nor to form an effective treatment plan. I know from experience.

Hope this helps you, UK!! I’d like to know what you decide and if you are able to get effective treatment. Email me if you’d like. God bless you, luv.

Go to your local herbal store and get a mix of herbals that combat allergies in your area. That should help and it’s natural so no real problems with meds.
