You chase him down with your golf cart and use a wedge on him…. JUST KIDDING. I do not know the answer but a very good question that I bet happens more that you think

First, if he’s a pro, he’s screwed. lol.. You ask him…”that was my ball, you know?” You want to usually make this known to the player and to others (unless he is your boss…then just play his (now your) ball) (hopefully your ball IS marked!). And, depending on how formal or informal your group is, you can ask to drop a ball and whack it. Or just hit the other (his) ball until the end of the hole. If you drop a new ball…what happens to his and your original ball, is dependent on the group. Have fun!

Nothing. Just put another one of your balls down and continue to play. Unless your one of those people everyone hates to play with. If you.re not on television why be so picky?

first you MUST prove the other player hit your ball. if he did: in match play he loses the hole he is playing and you get to replace your ball at the agreed point closest to where your ball came to rest and play your shot. in medal/stroke play the violator is assessed a two stroke penalty and is allowed to play his ball where it lies and again, you get to place your ball at the nearest agreed upon point it came to rest and you get to play your shot. if you CAN’T prove the other player hit your ball, you have a couple of options. if it was hit toward a ground under repair area AND you can make a reasonable argument that your ball did or may have come to rest in the area under repair and hence can’t find it, you get to take a free drop (under the ball lost in ground under repair rule) and play on. if you didn’t hit it in or toward G.U.R. you must play under the lost ball rule. you are assessed a one shot penalty and you return to the spot of the PREVIOUS shot and play on. sooo.. if you hit your drive, you walk out to where you thought it landed, you can’t find it and you can’t prove someone else hit your ball or that it could be lost in G.U.R., you go back to the tee and you are now hitting your THIRD shot

He gets a 2 stroke penalty for playing the wrong ball and you get to replace your ball with no penalty.

since he is an outside force that moved your ball once it came to rest, you have to drop it where it last was, meaning where it was before he played it. There’s no penalty for you, but for him it would be a 2 stroke penalty as he played the wrong ball.

after yelling at the guy you can place your ball where it was
