What plants look pretty, are good for hayfever sufferers and are not poisonous to dogs?

I am planning on doing some gardening today, but I would like some plants that produce colourful flowers, will not affect my hayfever, and won’t make my dog ill. Any suggestions?

I have hay fever myself. What I plant are hosta. They come in hundreds of varieties…the foliage is magnificent. To add color I plant begonias. They don’t bother me at all. I also have spider geraniums in baskets and containers that do very well and add lots of color. Good luck.

depending on the type of flower bed you are building….. and the amount of sunlight you will be getting

    begonias
    petunias
    portulaca
    impatiens
    pansies
    asylum
    gladiolas

try fuchsia’s. they have really great looking flowers with no smell and little pollen. make sure you get the hardy varieties if you plan on leaving them outside. if in the uk you should expect to pay about £1 – £1.50 for a 3″ pot. if you are new to fuchsia growing, try going to a specialist grower. they always give lots of advice, just ask.

Most plants that produce pollen will also not be any help to your hayfever
