Yamaha’s and most other gas golf carts use a constantly variable transmission (CVT), the speed governing is done from the rear end where the speed (revolutions of the drive axle) can be sensed.

The governor is on top of the rear end, under the black plastic cover in the bag area. There is a 10mm nut on a long bolt coming off the carburetor, turning it clockwise increases speed.

When choosing from a range of powered golf carts how do you know if what you want is gas or electric powered? Or perhaps what you really want in the powered golf carts you are looking at is one that is run by solar power.
